The Cambridge English Placement Test (CEPT) 

The Cambridge English Placement Test (CEPT) is computer-adaptive international test of general English language ability, focusing on test contents which measure the skills of  Reading, Use of English and Listening that features a variety of accents and texts sourced from a range of English-speaking countries. Based on test takers’ responses, the test becomes progressively easier or more difficult until a consistent of level of ability is achieved, and your level of English can be identified. The test takes a maximum of 30 minutes and is available on demand.  It is designed to pinpoint your level of English and relate it to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) – the international standard for describing language ability. You can use it for:

  • Placing students on English language courses - find out what level of English ability students have, which course is right for them, and which Cambridge English exam they should take.
  • General admissions - find out if students need to go on a pre-sessional course or in-sessional language improvement course.

The Cambridge English Placement Test is an affordable online test that can be used to quickly assess your students and place them on the right English course. It can also be used to show your students where they are on their language learning journey and can motivate them to prepare for the next higher English level.
